Planning Strategies to Keep TeachingThu, 3/26/2020 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM | Online Meeting
After this session, participants will be able to:
- Plan for ways to communicate with and support students
- List the benefits and considerations of using synchronous v. asynchronous tools and strategies
- Make initial decisions about what parts of their courses can be done remotely in CarmenCanvas and CarmenZoom
- Determine which Carmen tools align best with their context and student learning needs
In this session, we will share strategies for how to teach remotely using CarmenCanvas and CarmenZoom while face-to-face lectures, discussion sections, seminars, and other similar classes are suspended. Learn how to conduct lectures and class activities such as discussions, group work, and active learning exercises online. Asynchronous and synchronous examples will be discussed, and participants will have the opportunity to experience ways to engage with students via Zoom.
NOTE: If you have never used CarmenZoom, you will need to log in and activate your account before you are able to access the session. For help getting started, visit Getting Started in CarmenZoom in the ODEE Resource Center. Be sure to test Zoom at least one hour in advance of the session and contact the Service Desk at 614-688-4357 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any issues.
