Creative Assessments with Technology

Mon, 2/4/2019 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM | Enarson Classroom Building  018

LEARNING GOALS

Participants in this session will:

  • Develop a basic understanding of creative and non-traditional assessments.
  • Distinguish between formative and summative assessments.
  • Explore strategies and tools for integrating creative assessments in their courses.
  • Be equipped with resources to learn how to use the creative assessment tools.

Are you using the same traditional assessment methods, like papers and quizzes, over again and again in your courses? Would you like to provide other methods for students to practice skills and display their knowledge? This interactive session will discuss why to use creative (or non-traditional) assessments, as well as how to set students up for success on those assignments.

You will gain a high-level overview of different creative assessment types—such as video, blogs and podcasts—and of the various tools (iOS and non-iOS) that can be used to create them. You'll leave equipped with the resources needed to learn the tools that interest you so you can dive into using them in your courses.

This is a BYOD (bring-your-own-device) workshop—it is optional but encouraged to bring a device with internet access so you can explore the resources shared.
